simcision® Meet and Model
Learn how to model and simulate complex systems with simcision®.
Our world is full of complex challenges. To remain capable of taking action, it is therefore crucial to be able to quickly and thoroughly grasp complex issues. However, many well-known methods do not sufficiently account for interactions and overlook long-term effects. Complexity is not the problem here—what is lacking are suitable approaches and methods for integrating perspectives, understanding interrelationships, and evaluating alternative solutions.
The systems thinking tool simcision® aims to bridge this very gap and provides a quick introduction to system modeling and simulation. Gain insight into complex issues by visualizing them as systems, understand system dynamics through versatile analysis tools, and experience your system in action through simulations. We’ll show you how to engage others through systems thinking and make more resilient decisions.
In this seminar, you will gain a practical introduction to system modeling and simulation methods, learn about real-world examples and potential applications, and take your first steps toward building your own system models.
What exactly is systems thinking? In this module, you’ll gain an overview of the systems thinking approach and a concise introduction to modeling and simulating complex systems. We’ll discuss the characteristics of complex situations and what they mean for dealing with them. However, we won’t get bogged down in an extensive review of various theories; instead, we’ll focus on practical applications from the very beginning: What are systems thinking approaches suitable for? What are the hurdles and limitations? Where do they intersect with other approaches? Where does the greatest potential lie?
In the second module, you will explore the simcision® systems thinking tool from various angles. Using simcision as an example, we will examine how to build system models and simulations and what factors to consider. We will examine different types of relationships, analyze impact chains and feedback loops, and learn about various system influences and potential interactions.
Now it’s your turn! In this module, you’ll start by working through various real-world examples to gain an understanding of how system models are applied. We’ll experiment with simulations to address different questions, analyze the results, and gain insight into the relationships depicted.
Then you’ll become a system designer yourself and start modeling a concrete example. Identify the relevant system elements, map out relationships, and experience how quickly you can experiment with simulations and gather insights.
